If anyone is hurt, call 911 first. Everything else on this page can wait five minutes. When you are ready, call us before you call anyone else — we have your policy in front of us and we will open the claim with you.
Nobody thinks clearly straight after a wreck, and nobody should have to. If you can manage these few things before you leave, the rest of the claim gets considerably easier. If you cannot, we will work with what you have.
One thing worth saying plainly: do not agree who was at fault at the roadside. Not to the other driver, and not to their insurer if they call you that afternoon. Fault gets decided later, with the report and the photographs, by people whose job that is.
Make sure everyone is safeCall 911 for any injury, or if the vehicles are blocking traffic.
Photograph everythingBoth vehicles, the damage, the wider scene, the road, and the other driver’s insurance card and license plate.
Swap details, not opinionsName, phone, insurer and policy number. Nothing about fault.
Get the report numberIf an officer attends, note the report number before you leave.
Then call us(937) 653-1360, Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
You can always report straight to your carrier, and sometimes that is the right call. Most of the time it is worth thirty seconds with us first.
We know what you actually carryDeductibles, limits, rental cover, glass. You do not have to remember any of it.
We will tell you if filing is a bad ideaSometimes the repair costs less than the deductible and the claim is not worth making. We would rather say so.
We stay on it with youIf the adjuster goes quiet, chasing them is our job, not yours.
One local numberThe same office, on the square, that wrote the policy in the first place.
If it is the middle of the night and it cannot wait. Your carrier’s 24-hour claims number is printed on your declarations page and on your insurance ID card, in the glovebox or in your carrier’s app. Report it there, then call us in the morning and we will pick it up from wherever it got to. Not knowing who your carrier is does not stop you — call us when we open and we will look it up.
Timelines belong to the carrier rather than to us, and they vary by the kind of loss and how busy the season is. What follows is the usual shape of it.
We open the claim with youUsually on the same call, while the details are fresh.
The carrier assigns an adjusterThey become your main contact for the day-to-day. We can always tell you who they are.
Damage gets inspectedIn person, by photograph, or at a shop, depending on the carrier and the loss.
You hear from us either wayIf it stalls, we chase it. That is the part people tell us they notice.
One thing we will not do over a website or a chat window is tell you whether a loss is covered. That answer lives in your policy and it needs a licensed agent looking at it. Ask us and we will give you a straight answer on the phone.
Rural roads and open weather make for a particular mix.
Deer strikesConstant here, and heaviest from October through December. Usually a comprehensive claim rather than collision.
Hail and windRoofs, siding and vehicles. After a big storm, get on a roofer’s list early.
Trees and limbsOn the house, the barn, the truck, or across the lane.
WaterBurst pipes in a cold snap, sump pump failures, sewer backup.
GlassStone chips off gravel and road salt season. Often handled without affecting the rest of the policy.
Farm lossesEquipment, outbuildings and grain bins each work differently. Laramie Reed handles those.
The questions we get most in the first phone call.
It depends on the claim, your policy and your history, which is exactly why it is worth a conversation before you file rather than after. Call us and we will look at it with you honestly, including whether it is worth turning in at all. Sometimes the repair costs less than the deductible and the answer is no.
For anything involving another vehicle, an injury or a theft, get a report. It makes the claim considerably easier and some carriers ask for it outright. For a deer strike or a single-vehicle incident it is usually optional, though it never hurts to have one.
You still have options, and which route gets your vehicle fixed faster is not always obvious. Going through your own carrier is sometimes quicker even when the other driver was clearly responsible. Call us before you agree to anything with their insurer and we will walk through it with you.
That belongs to the carrier rather than to us, and it varies with the kind of loss and the season. A straightforward glass claim can be same-week. A large storm claim in the middle of a county-wide event takes longer, because every adjuster in Ohio is working the same weather. We will tell you where yours actually stands whenever you want to know.
Not necessarily. Bring us the letter. Denials sometimes turn on a detail that was recorded wrongly or a document nobody asked for, and it is worth someone reading it properly before you accept it. That is a conversation for the office, not a form.
That is more common than you would think and it does not slow anything down. Your carrier’s name and claims number are on your declarations page and your insurance ID card. If you cannot lay hands on either, call us and we will look it up while you are on the phone. We have your policy on file.
Need to report something right now? Ask our assistant, bottom right of this page. It will take the details and put them in front of the office straight away, day or night, and it will not ask you to know your carrier first.
You do not need your policy number, and you do not need to know who your carrier is. Just tell us what happened.
